Civil War Diary Quilt Book

More grand ideas! Ever since I was a very young person, I have been interested in the geography and history of the USA. I have been very fortunate and have had four visits to this wonderful country, so all in all have spent several months there and travelled many, many thousands of miles.

Two of our visits were with my husband and two of our children and we visited many memorials and battlefields stretching from Virginia to Louisiana, spending quite a bit of time in the Carolinas and Georgia. My husband Ed drove, so we were able to freelance and spend as much time as we wished sightseeing and spending as much time as we wished at our chosen places.

Several of my fellow bloggers are making the Civil War Diary Quilt and I have just received the book and CD from the author Rosemary Youngs. She was so lovely and efficient about the transaction. When time permits, I hope to have a little dabble at least making a small quilt. Who knows - out of small beginnings ... !

Happy sewing and best wishes all!

I'm glad you feel that way about the USA, and that you have been able to visit. I have always been curious about Australia, and always said since I was young, that I wished I could visit there. Maybe some day. I hadn't had a desire to do the Civil War Diary Quilt, but you almost make me want to try. The OC is giving me a little more confidence.
I just noticed you put my blog on your list of Quilt Blogs. Thank you, that really made my day. Also thank you for your comment on my blog. I'm more fluffy than shy, but I'll try to get a picture that won't spoil everyone's dinner.

A lovely blog of colorful quilt photos! Lovely quilts! Very nice! I am curious to see all the Orange Crush (in your case Blue Crush) when they are done. There are a lot of bloggers involved in that mystery... I have tooooo many UFOs to catch up on before I attempt an online mystery.
My daughter will be visiting Australia this summer for World Youth Day... She is very excited about it!
Happy quilting!

Thanks so much for your kind words on the US. We hear so many negative remarks from around the world that it's nice to find a fan. I would love, love, love to visit your country one day. Maybe once all our kids are out of college!! I too have been thinking on doing the civil War Diary Quilt. I always look at this book when I see it. I love civil war history even though I was born "on the wrong side". I am now a transplanted confederate. LOL!! I enjoyed your quilt show. I'll be attending one in June and am really looking foward to it. When I lived in Houston I always attended the show there. I have only gotten back once in the 8 years since we moved. :-(

You are just so sweet! I'm glad that you are going to do the Civil War Diary Quilt. I am currently working on it and I just love it! I only have 41 blocks done, but I am slow. My plans are to hang it from my upstairs balcony in our new house (if we ever get it finished). My living room is open for 2 stories so I think it will look pretty hanging there and it will be one of the first things that you see when coming through the front door.
