Periwinkle - A Start!

I keep promising myself next year will be a better one and have mentally listed some objectives! This one is in English paper piecing to fill in those little moments wasted when I wish I could have achieved something! Here's a start! Hopefully a fairly close reproduction of the 1940? antique quilt below - maker Unknown! I have been playing and it hasn't been easy - yes, we can all go out and buy templates and we all know photocopying is not always accurate - I had five angles to work with here - oh, please God that I have it right. lol!

It's going to be bright - I think I will need some navy fabrics, a colour I don't go for very much - if anyone knows of a shop that stocks, please let me know!

This is what I hope to achieve - love the pink and think I am fairly close to it!

Dear friend Pat Goodchild sent me a few swatches of Kaffe's new? fabrics - she suggests use in Kim McLean's applique projects, perhaps a really quick quilt with maybe some spotty sashing and floral cornerstones in between blocks , or even as a centre of a medallion quilt. Good advice - thanks Patti! - now this one clever girl is one of the most artistic quilters I have ever known!
I'm hoping to have a lovely weekend Stitch-In - time to prepare for Christmas next week!

LOVE LOVE the Periwinkle! ... and I LOVE your colors scheme, as well, Lurline ;>)
As a matter of fact, I'm intending of starting a Periwinkle, as well, in 2011. The only change is that my pattern shows a big hexagon in between each "star" - with gorgeous handquilting into those hexagons. YUM !
ENJOY your sewing, dear !

OOPS, sorry! I was meaning "a big OCTAGON in between" (it's only 6.30am here in my little corner, and I just woke up ;>)

Lurline,

Love the dolly, just the kind of doll I dreamed of as a little girl. I would make one for myself if I had the time, giggle. Too much going on. Absolutely love the piecing project, what a beauty it is going to be. Don't worry about the colors, my BFF, has almost convinced me that red is a neutral, lol.

Hugs to you,
Bobbie

That's going to be a super quilt Lurline. At least it looks like nice relaxing stitching. I hope next year you get to do all that your heart desires. I think I need that Kaffe panel for some cushions!

Such a cute dollie, and a beautiful soft quilt. In a previous post you mentioned being boring, and you are never that. I hope that you have a wonderful trip to Thailand.
