There are pears elsewhere in the quilt, so all should be well! I just have to remember now to keep pre-used fabrics aside to put into the border applique!
I decided to make nice, fine bias stems for the pears - I shocked myself here! - I like fine stems and the rest are a scant 1/4", so you can see I have jagged these tiny, fine stems - if you haven't seen before have a little look here to see how I make my stems with a Hera Marker. I do find the weave of the fabrics is a plus, too!
Gremlins invaded my body over the weekend and I think there are a few still lurking - I lay in bed thinking of all things pretty and thought about these fabrics I had bought in Melbourne, and lots of other beautiful fabrics and designs. I didn't get to Boddington, so, sorry I have no gold to spread around. Guess what? - still cold and rainy here and I did spray my roses again yesterday afternoon - I'm going to keep trying no matter what and have arranged for Hire-a-Hubby to come 9 October.

DD and I considered taking the littlies to the Perth Royal Show today - maybe Friday now?

Gorgeous blocks Lurline...you have done a stunning job. I love the pears. All that pink goodness is lovely too!
ReplyDeleteWowzers girl! Awesome job!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Lurline Just love those Pears. Love the striped tablecloth that the apples are on. Must admit I am preparing that block and have been wondering what to use. You have given me food for thought, thankyou. I have been using my Bias Bars that have been tucked away forever- at least 10 years and only used once. They are now being put to good use and I find that I can make nice fine bias too.
ReplyDeleteSorry you are still not feeling up to scratch. That weather change will do it every time. I sprayed my roses with soapy water and was then told that I have to use garlic in the water too so that not only do they get soap in their eyes and have to let go to scrub at their eyes they also have to breathe over each other so that they well and truly topple off.
I love your blocks. They are beautiful and the applique perfect! You said they were corner blocks. Can't wait to see what the quilt looks like.
ReplyDeleteyour blocks are wonderful just lovely!

ReplyDeleteYour blocks are so pretty and what a great way you have used the fabrics to co-ordinate with each other and within each block--and your applique work is beautiful---I just love that pile of "pinks" of fabric you have---hugs, Di
ReplyDeleteCWBQ is looking good...it is going to be a most beautiful quilt. I wonder how many hours you'll have in it when its done! Have you seen quilts at shows and they tell you all the hours, spools of thread, fabric and money invested into the quilt?
ReplyDeleteHappy Sewing!... this is gonna be an heirloom.
I love the pears!
ReplyDeleteI just love your applique blocks! You're making a lot of progress, too.
