A Great Weekend!

I would like to start expressing hopes and prayers for our fellow Australian on the east coast - here we are languishing in just the greatest weather, warm days and cool nights, while the east coast is suffering in heat and bushfires - I sincerely hope things improve for everyone!

I've been having a little play - the block on the left using Stitch'n'Wash fusible, and the block on the right, my old method with freezer paper. Oh, please note my beautiful new scissors, name engraved and all, lol!

You can't teach and old dog new tricks - I will be sticking with freezer paper. I did enjoy my little experiment, but found I am not really keen with the way a certain amount of the Stitch'n'Wash isn't totally removed from the shape after soaking in water.

I press my pieces toward the shiny side of the freezer paper and where possible remove the paper with long nose tweezers before I do the final few stitches.

Our family (well quite a few of them!) had a great day out to lunch again yesterday - we came home dressed Heidi in a dance costume Ayesha wore many years ago - I love, love, love them!

I have had little time to Browse, Comment and Reply - I am truly sorry about that - unfortunately life gets that way at times and I don't want to take sabbatical leave, I would miss you all too much!

Yo-yos & Hexagons!

Just popping by to say Hello! This has been such a busy week and it is not over yet!

I haven't achieved a great deal stitchery-wise, but here is a little of what I've been up to in the evenings! See below - I'm using the large Yo-yo Maker by Clover and sort of having success towards making a little cushion top - cute, and fun!

I have finished one of October's blocks for Green Tea & Sweet Beans, again substituting several fabrics from Nanette at Freda's Hive! Nanette has brought out a new pattern - teapots and houses - really cute and worth checking out!

Notice another new rosebud - this one is Seduction - well, the name seems inappropriate to me - more like Innocence, I would think, LOL!

Hire-a- Hubby Day!

When I do something, I do it properly!

Meet my new Hubby - kinda cute, hey! Sadly I have him for five hours only - see the weed mat going down, roses transplanted and new ones to go in - oh, yes, I am doing a happy dance!

Back to reality - here are my hexies for Green Tea & Sweet Beans! In this quilt, I have taken the opportunity to use little pieces of fabrics from Nanette of Freda's Hive even though fabrics are supplied in the BOM package - just a few nice little memories to have!

I recently read a tip to use Bottom Line thread for English paper piecing - wonderful - invisible stitches and will withstand the heat of a very hot iron - must have a little try on my applique!

GT&SB uses newspaper print for the backgound on a couple of blocks - I love it and quite a few people have been intrigued by it! good news - new from moda Authentic - so shop away, Girls! I noticed in Barbara Brackman's book When the Cold Wind Blows, some of the leaves in a particular pattern have been done in a pretty blue newspaper print fabric, so how very versatile is this!

PS - good news Aussie Girls - I have just opened an email from Busy Thimbles - woohoo! they have this range in stock

New book and a new jelly roll of Kaffe's 2009.

I rather fancy this gorgeous pattern by Kim McLean - very tempting, so we'll see! More Kaffe's to come, so my stash will be very healthy!

Perhaps I should mention I do seriously support local and Australian patchwork stores - just every now and then I get a little distracted with armchair shopping and every day an exciting new range of fabrics seems to take my fancy - I think I have a lot of friends with the same disease, LOL!

How Gorgeous Can You Get!

I certainly feel like doing cartwheels, oh, I wish I could! I have just received this October's BOM, Green Tea & Sweet Beans plus a pic of the finished quilt - I love it, love it, love it!

I remember now why I was so taken with it the minute I saw it and this is the first pic I have to

to remind of of the reason - it is a delight to receive each BOM and now I can't wait to get them all and have my own quilt!

Here's this month's fabrics - and the hexie block will be done! Plus a tulips block.

Down Under Quilts is in the shops and what another lovely surprise - congratulations Robyn of Daisy Quilts - just a little sneak-peak for everyone to see. Australian girls just can't stop - we are on a roll - this Issue 136, will be a must have for a lot of you - there is another gorgeous quilt on the cover by Kathy Doughty of Material Obsession - the mag will pop out at you! Though I am not really a contemporary girl, I think I could happily live with this cool quilt quite easily! To you, too, Kathy, congratulations! I think I might have a little scrounge in 'My Studio' before I go out to spray my roses, AGAIN!

No, no, no - not mine - isn't it just a gorgeous rose, though! It's Bonica - I bought one yesterday now to keep the diseases and bugs at bay - not normally a really bad problem with roses here, but it is the weather - maybe a little tipple of Seasol in the sunshine will be just what they need!
