Back to Cute and Pretty!

I've just been swearing at Blogger - how rude is he! - just lost a whole post and I swear it had been saved throughout too. Anyhow ... lucky I have just had a lovely weekend away lots of laughs and good fun, back to reality now!I started preparing a new applique project - obviously a Kaffe/Kim combination. I have just received Pandemonium and I love the idea of big blocks surrounded by littlies, so I have made a start with two blocks from The Flower Garden. Let's see how it all evolves, see the cute little Japanese print I will use for background Block One.
Oh, to be able to play all day! I have just received Kathy's new book and I'm delighted, lots of fresh, bright projects that appeal and a few 'whacky' ones too. Lots of inspiration there!
I have taken the pics below for me - I know I showoff every now and then. It was just one such hell of a mess, I'm so pleased to have it all tidy - it cost me a day of playing though. Does everyone get into this situation every now and then?

After re-writing this Post, I'm off to buy goodies for dinner, then with a bit of luck I will prepare an applique block - check back soon, I'm sure it will be all stitched down in no time, lol!

Naughty Blogger! No signature, so hug and kisses until next time - Lurline♥

Citron Hero!

I'm not sure? Here we are, flimsy complete - straight line quilting to be done. My first Hero quilt - not true to life in colour, the 'citron' is really bright, it will certainly bring a ray of sunshine into someone's life!I really do hope it makes one of our guys or girls happy, let's see how I feel about it once it is quilted! I'm off to a Retreat this long weekend coming, so exciting, lots of Girlie company.
Wherever I go I receive compliments! I posted about this gorgeous bag just after Christmas - it is from my SSCS made by Maria in Denmark. What an easy way to start up a conversation from friends and strangers alike. I cannot thank you enough Maria, especially when people think I have made it, lol! Should I be using it constantly? This question goes through my mind so often, then I think 'why not!' - it one of the most feel-good gifts I have ever received.
Once again, I'm off to tidy my 'studio' - I have a yearning to do some applique and hope the mailman brings me goodies today - Kathy Doughty's latest book and Pandemonium by Kim McLean - lots of good things to look forward to. Happy day!

QuiltWest 2012!

What a lovely day out - it all seemed to go too quickly! I just might have to try to get back! Our State Guild put on a great display, congratulations to all prize-winners and thank you all exhibitors for great eye-candy!
So many beautiful quilts, and I must admit I didn't really get to photograph and see them all in detail - however, I love this one by Joycelyn Leath.
Pretty Girl and I don't know the story, but wonderful work - I daresay we will see it around a lot.
Here we have Best of Show by dear friend, Yvonne Skodt - I have given her lots of hugs! I wish I had got in up close to show you more.
One of The Best of Australia by Helen Godden - I'm sure she is well known to a lot of you.
My Aussie Hero Quilt - now, Smarty Pants had to rush into this one, it's okay and sort of boyish, but is 16" square, now I have to work out how I will incorporate it into a quilt 42 - 44" wide - a challenge, lol!Look, look, look - my beautiful orchids in their annual bloom. I originally won the Mother in a raffle and she has since been divided, like all Mums who spread themselves so wide!
Happy weekend!

Happy Mothers Day ...

Oopsy! Hope all you Mothers out there had a lovely day ... I started this Post and then had lots of interruptions before bedtime. This is what happens when one has four children, of course all adults now and still vying for my time, lol!A little bit of Perle stitching - so relaxing and I seem to hoot ahead. Evening time work for me!

See how I've turned the edges of the backing and stitched it down with a long stitch by machine - just a bit tidier. Beautiful backing fabric, how naughty of me to use it as a backing, but it was on hand and I had nothing else suitable at the time!
See on by Sidebar - Aussie Hero Quilts! Now that things have quietened down a bit, I have decided to become involved and here's some fabric for the first. I have support from a few Girlfriends! who have shown interest but have had no reply to my email so far. Never mind, I'm sure it will come. I like to be able to help out and I'm sure it is some little way we can. I am inspired by the work done by Cherry Red Quilter and Once Upon a Quilt ...

Here's to another busy week - hope it is a good one for you all!

Zig-Zag Finish!

All done and I'm quite happy! I have enjoyed making this quilt. Hmm, I wonder how the raffle will go?It seemed a lot of quilting while I was doing it, but now it is finished not such a great task.

It has been a busy week - lots of get-togethers with friends! I've been doing a bit of arm-twisting this week and now I'm going to get in touch with Christine of Once Upon a Quilt ... to find out details of quilts and laundry bags needed for our soldiers in Afghanistan - crazy me with three patients (all doing well!), I am still saddened to think of our brave men so far from home, maybe we can create a little bit of comfort!
Happy weekend!

Quilting on a Rainy Day!

Whoohoo! I'm about halfway there on The Raffle Quilt - really enjoying it but it is quite time consuming. I basted it all by myself, so much to my pleasure - I think you know my left arm doesn't work - so a sense of achievement!I have ruled up half of PollyAnna and will hand quilt her with Perle thread - it will be lovely to do on cold winter evenings. I used a Frixion pen - not for the faint-hearted, but a clear, neat and easy way to go!
Very briefly - Nurse Lurline has three patients at the moment, 93 year old Mum, DH had a seizure last Sunday night, so no driving for three months, and DS broke his thumb while working on a rig out in the Indian Ocean. He had surgery Friday evening and all is going well. I am letting all this happen around me and moving along in little steps with my quilting, a great diversion. I hope you are all having fun!

Sunday's News & Pics!

Yes, wonderful news to share with you all!I have been madly stitching - I want to make a quilt to raffle as a fund-raiser for Bailey to go to Sydney - yep, representing our state, Western Australia, in Australian Rules Football. Here he is with twin sister Ayesha last January, yes he is very tall, which of course gives him a distinct advantage to any team who selects him. Oh, I must admit he is a very talented player too!
Pray God all goes well this year - he was selected for the team last year to go to Canberra, but injury prevented him from doing so.

So I have been into the stash and selected fabrics to make a zig-zag quilt, again inspired by
Red Pepper Quilts and Fresh Lemons Quilts. I so enjoy the inspiration that comes from both Rita and Malka.

Time is running away - hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

PollyAnna!

I've made a start - all from the stash. These days I have yardage of white on hand, so it was make do! I think this will be fun! If you can see, I have chosen quite a few non coordinated prints and somehow they just seem to work.
I'm off to WAQA, our State Guild today, so hopefully a finish to a flimsy tomorrow, then once it is basted some more Perle hand-quilting.
I love these little greens scarves and there are red ones scattered about too!
Another lovely book - looks good at a glance!

Happy Day!

Tortoise Speed!

That's how my blogging is going - nice to be back for a little chat! It is a beautiful day here and it has been a lovely week. I had fifteen of us for Easter Lunch on Saturday - lots of help so that was nice. Then Tuesday I had Girlfriends! for lunch and that was lovely - LPG yesterday, then taking Mum to doctor for checkup this arv.
I have made a start on my Zakka Bag - lovely linen background and now I am big-stitch quilting the front - it is quite nice to work on the linen. I have used an iron-on pellon as backing and Frixion pen to mark - this will press out with a warm iron.
I cut out my squares, lined them up accurately, gave them each with a little squirt of spray starch and then cut four at a time diagonally, a nice little time saver!
Hoping to make a start on a Stepping Stones Quilt over the weekend having gleaned inspiration from Rita of Red Pepper Quilts and Malka of Fresh Lemons Quilts. See, I have drawn up a trial block including my anticipated quilting lines, so I'm ready to go!

Have a nice weekend!

Zakka Begins!

Aaaargh! Oh Blogger - please be nice! I have accidentally gone to a new version and I either have to get rid of it or stay in kindergarten for some time. I have wagged it from my LPG today, so much to do and seems like a houseful of people with more to come.

Happy Easter to everyone - wishing you happy and safe times! Now let's talk about patchwork - see my sidebar for the Zakka button - my fingers are itching to start, but maybe a quick tidy-up of my Studio needs to happen first. I'm flying on a wing and a prayer here and will just have to continue the way I am going. Above, my chosen fabric for my bag and the pink toile below is 'just because I like it'- cute! I told Cathy of Cabbage Quilts I would show her when it arrived.

If anyone can tell me how to revert to old style of Blogger, please do. Meanwhile enjoy the weekend!
