Happy Saturday!

How easy is it when one doesn't venture forth! This is the result with my trusty Olympus and Picasa.

I would love to be able to use pics from my ipad and iphone edited with Snapseed, but I'm not quite there yet. This pic isn't wonderful - it does show off my experiment though. This little sweetie is for our new baby boy due June 24. He will be born and live in Thailand, so I have used beautiful Yuwa and Emma Louise and Quilt Lite for batting - it is so soft and cuddly.

I hope you all manage to get a bit of stitching in over the weekend, with a bit of luck I will.

Anzac Day 2013

Today as we remember our soldiers from the past, it is with deep gratitude we send our love to those who have our welfare in their hands now - God bless!
Oopsy! Here I go again - I really have forgotten how to use Blogger and this laptop. Now all I have to do is teach myself Blogsy on my ipad.
Don't you just love Steam Punk by our own Jenny Kingwell - so far I have used freezer paper to applique the templates onto the background - for me easy-peasy, though please follow Jenny's directions as I am sure it will be the simplest way for most. I'm looking forward to all the scrappy combinations I can make from my stash.
I love using Snapseed for editing, now the black frame, I really don't know how I even put it there and I don't like it, never mind!
Can't you smell those roses? Trust me, they are divine. Grown by dear friend Teena - a lovely group of girls spent Tuesday at her place, just the best being with dear friends.
From this point I will say ta - ta as everything is pretty giddy around my signature. I have some fun stitching on the go and littlies Heidi and Byron are with Ed, Mum and I while the young ones are at two-up at the RSL, a great Aussie tradition on Anzac Day. Happy Stitching!

God Bless Boston!

After such a long time I promised myself I would blog today - and then awoke to devastating news as the rest of the world has heard. We have visited this beautiful city and have many happy memories and words cannot describe my feeling about this heinous act - with a sad heart I will carry on.
My worktable with a very favourite quilt above - yes, I am still a quilter after a forced absence. I have been very unwell for many months and discovered in a critical situation, I had a necrotic gall
bladder with attachments - however, the old Lurline is back with lots of news to share in days to come. I caught up with some of my very favourite people over the weekend, lots of laughs and good times, a few, very few bubbles and retail therapy of course!
My darling grandchildren, 17 year old twins Ayesha and Bailey in front of our place ready to take off in the Hummer for their Year 12 Formal - oh, yes, I am so very proud!

I had great difficulty uploading/downloading this Post - well, I did suffer severely with post anaesthetic psychosis, lol - yes I did, but in actual fact I mainly use my Apple ipad these days and have forgotten or Blogger has changed. Never mind, I'll get back to showing lots of pretties and I will tell you, browsing blogs has been a blessing to me in the past few months, so I thank you all, dear friends!

Oh So Cute!

I mentioned in my previous post how I have decided to do Lucy Boston's Crosses. I did organize and start - just a little too wincy I think. Cute as ... but!
So now I have a stack of one inch templates on hand and I am on a trial run to see what I can do with self-made one and a half inch templates.
I have some lovely fabrics about and of course have added a few more in Liberty Life, I think it is. They are just beautiful and I am just so enthusiastic, so let's hope I have some pretties to show you next post. Well, maybe one pretty, I'll be happy if I can achieve that.
I was so thrilled to have so many lovely comments on my last post and I still hope to get back to you all personally. Life is so busy, it takes a lot caring for others, but I really do want to hold onto my quilting, blog and all that goes with it.
Happy Sunday arv to all girls in Oz and it will come to all of you soon!

Playing With Crosses!

... And Life Goes On!

It has all been so long since things have felt normal, whatever normal is. For a fleeting moment yesterday, I decided 'no more quilting' - now here I am back again with renewed vigour, let's hope it stays. I'm so happy there is still so much inspiration and motivation out there, thank you dear Friends!

In all of this I have lost a pic, will try to get it back before I sign off. Recognize the above - Lucy Boston's Quilt of the Crosses, just divine. I have ordered the pattern from NSW so it should be here before the end of the week. My plan .... to try to use modern fabrics to achieve a beautiful gentle look. I still have lots of repros, but must admit I prefer the fresh look of modern fabrics these days. I would love to hear from those who are making the above quilt - sigh, just lovely!

With heavy heart I posted this pic of my little girl, Georgina, a couple of days ago - she has been with us thirteen years and the time came to go to Doggie Heaven - I miss her so much and feel blessed I had such a faithful, adoring little friend for all those years. I now over-indulge Alice, that's the way I am with my pets - nothing changes there!
I hope the bubbles that have been bursting will stop and look forward to keeping in touch regularly.

Opinions, Please!

My goodness - I too am finding great difficulty uploading photos these days - tricky and manipulation needed! I had such a lovely day out with Girlfriends yesterday, so motivation is high today!
 -

Here we have a pretty Dresden I made perhaps 9 years ago - it is basted, ready to be hand stitched and that's not going to happen - my life has had dramatic changes as the years have past, lots of them wonderful I will say.
This is a fairly large quilt - now should I spend the money and have it custom quilted allowing for a scalloped border, or should I have it simply quilted and spend less money. I will add that the quilt has lots of original Feedsack from the US and even though am these days into modern, I still can find a lot of beauty and am very attached to this quilt - I would welcome comments!

Must tell you about my new Magic Bean Plant - can you see the beans at the base? - supposedly a native to Australia? More of that at a later date if I don't kill it with kindness, lol!

Happy day!

One Little Project!

Though the sewing room is so messy, it was just so lovely to be in 'my little corner of the world' - and I have made my little thread catcher, so I shouldn't be kicked out of Donna's Stitch-Along though one day late. The little design is from the book Red Home by Natalie Bird - practical and fun!
I must now check to see what to do for February.

Yesterday was a doozy! Mum and I went to the doctor for scripts and a checkover and to cut a long story short, as I was trying to get Mum into the car from the wheelchair she fell straight back and hit the back of her head on the bitumen. An ambulance was in the vicinity and after much screaming and yelling people came from everywhere to assist. Straight back to the doctor we went, big egg on the back of Mum's head, otherwise found to be undamaged after a thorough check. Mum was badly shaken - me, well there is nothing a beautiful, refreshing Mojito can't fix. Late to bed last night and I slept like a baby - how can I pretend it was all so easy? - life's challenges, I guess, lol!

Happy Day everyone!

Thailand to Perth!

Oh, it is so lovely to be home in Oz! Thailand is a wonderful place to which I have a close affection, but Perth ... clear skies, clean air, little traffic and this is "Home"! I wish I could say I am rested, not so - all an adventure each time I visit.

So very little stitching done in the past three weeks and I really must do just a little today or Chookyblue will excommunicate me from her Stitch-Along!
I have lots to talk about and maybe I will break it up into small segments in days to come. There was a few lovely parcels wating for me that the mailman had brought. Great excitement to receive my new book Softies Only a Mother Could Love. I love this little guy Hector Giraffe by our very own sweet Kate of Two Little Banshees - already I intend doing one for me and one for our precious wee one due 24 June - oh, I have itchy fingers!

Tomorrow is another day - lots to do today - 'til then, Happy Stitching!

Happy Holiday!

The countdown is on, still lots to do - I'm slipping in this little Post before I go.

Two delightful little books have arrived during the week - Red Home for Chookyblue's Stitchalong and GT&SB -the latest mentioned, I just love this quilt and started many years ago and now that there is so much popularity I've decided to have another go! The above pattern is an original of mine and the one below with the little dollies, well I figured I would find a spot for it in the quilt. I love whimsy, so there could be a few additions and subtractions.
Dear Mother Harriet - I will take her to a respite centre this afternoon - somehow I think it will work out okay. My goodness, I look at her all the time and don't often notice the sparkle in the beautiful blue eyes she has had all her life and that's for 94 years!
Pretty new fabric - I love it and don't know why?
From stitching to family - my beautiful daughter, Angela cutting beautiful grandaughter Ayesha's hair - how long is that? The most beautiful head of hair I have ever seen, wash and wear and yes, Angela is a hairdresser. God bless and stay safe, I'm off to Thailand on an early flight tomorrow!
